Biography

Ben Letham, Ph.D., has worked as a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Meta since 2015. A member of Meta’s Applied AI group, Dr. Letham’s research focuses on using Bayesian optimization and adaptive experimentation to build AI and optimization tools, develop new data analysis methodologies, and conduct large digital experiments. Prior to joining Meta, Dr. Letham conducted research at IBM Research in 2013 and previously worked as a research assistant at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital from 2009-2010. Dr. Letham earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2015, and has since authored more than 30 research publications in AI, machine learning, optimization, and experimentation.
