Grants will support portable diagnostic technology in Illinois and continued access to specialist expertise on Kodiak Island

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 10, 2026-- Claritev Corporation (NYSE: CTEV), a healthcare technology, data, and insights company focused on making healthcare more affordable and transparent for all, today announced that Claritev Cares, its nonprofit foundation focused on expanding access to healthcare, has awarded its 2026 Rural Health Grants to Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois, and Kodiak Community Health Center in Kodiak, Alaska.

The grants will help address two very real barriers to rural care: getting timely diagnostic information during urgent medical situations and accessing specialist expertise without the cost and challenge of traveling far from home.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will use its grant to complete funding for a portable point-of-care ultrasound system that can be used throughout the hospital. Kodiak Community Health Center will use its grant to continue the MAVEN Project, which connects its clinicians with volunteer medical specialists for patient-specific consultation, education, and mentorship.

Helping Fairfield patients get faster answers at the bedside

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will use the grant to move forward with the purchase of a portable ultrasound system that clinicians can bring directly to patients across the hospital. Building on funds already raised by the local community, the Claritev Cares grant closes a critical funding gap and puts the equipment within reach.

For patients experiencing trauma, respiratory distress, sepsis, internal bleeding, heart failure, vascular complications, or other serious conditions, clinicians may need accurate diagnostic information quickly. Portable ultrasound technology can help them evaluate patients at the bedside, guide certain procedures, and make more informed treatment or transfer decisions.

Because the system is portable, it can be used wherever care is being delivered rather than being limited to a single department.

Helping Kodiak patients receive specialty-informed care close to home

Kodiak Community Health Center will use its grant to continue access to the MAVEN Project for another year. Through the program, the health center’s clinicians can consult with volunteer specialists about individual patient cases while continuing to provide care locally.

Kodiak Island’s remote location can make specialty care difficult and expensive to access. Traveling to medical facilities in Anchorage may require a flight or a lengthy combination of ferry and ground travel, often adding lodging expenses, missed work, and time away from family.

During the health center’s first eight months using the MAVEN Project, its medical staff initiated 42 specialist consultations. According to post-consult surveys, 82% of those consultations avoided the need for a formal referral, allowing approximately 34 patients to continue receiving care on Kodiak Island.

The program also provides continuing education and mentorship for Kodiak’s clinicians, helping address the professional isolation that can come with practicing in a remote community.

The 2026 recipients were selected based on the significance of the local need, the anticipated impact of the proposed initiative, and the organizations’ ability to put the funding to work in ways that directly support patients and clinicians.
